Frequently asked questions
How many rolls do I need for a 4 × 3 m room?
A standard 10 m × 0.53 m roll covers ~5 m² usable after pattern match. A 4 × 3 m room, 2.5 m high, has ~35 m² of wall — allow 8 rolls with a plain paper, 10 with a large pattern repeat.
What's the difference between paste-the-wall and paste-the-paper?
Paste-the-wall (non-woven) is faster and doesn't expand, so seams stay tight. Paste-the-paper needs 5–10 min soaking to expand before hanging — skip that step and you get shrinkage seams.
Do I need to line the wall first?
Yes on rough plaster, plasterboard joints or over strong colours. A 1000-grade lining paper hung horizontally gives a much better finish under thin or dark wallpapers.
How do I handle a pattern repeat?
Add one extra repeat length per drop to your total. A 64 cm repeat on a 2.5 m ceiling means each drop consumes 3.14 m, not 2.5 m — the calculator does this for you.
